What is venous insufficiency?

Venous Insufficiency Test: The arteries carry oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the other parts of your body, while the veins carry oxygen-low blood from the rest of the body back to the heart.

When the veins in your legs have concern with sending blood back from the legs to the heart, this requirement is known as venous insufficiency.

When blood doesn’t flow back to the heart, blood pools in the veins in your legs, causing venous veins.

Causes of venous insufficiency

Venous insufficiency is commonly caused by improper functioning of the valves in the veins. The valves in the veins stop blood from flowing backward. When the valves are damaged or not functioning correctly, they cannot prevent blood from flowing backward. This causes blood to flow backward & pool in the veins in the legs.
